The world’s best universities in science, engineering and humanities.

The QS Guide published the list of the best 500 universities in the world in the areas of arts and humanities, engineering and technology, medicine and Life sciences, natural sciences and social and administrative sciences. No University of Latin America remained within the 50 first.
British and American universities continue to dominate the listings of the best education centers in the world.

That, at least, is what shows the world Ranking of universities classified by areas of study 2018 that publishes the academic guide QS.

You can read: The best universities in innovation

This listing, which is published annually, takes into account four criteria for assigning a score to each university.

On the one hand, they do global interviews with academics and with employers, with which they measure the international reputation of each university in a particular area of study.

The other two indicators measure the impact of their research, based on citations in academic publications and the H index, which measures how productive and influential a researcher is.

These data were taken from Elsevier, a reputed database of academic citations.

In BBC world we show you the top 5 of the best universities in each area worldwide, as well as the 5 best positions that occupied Latin American universities in each.
